The Cypriot Visa Programme for Digital Nomads
YOUR SUBSTITUTE FOR THE STANDARD WORKING MODEL
The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa Scheme
As the name suggests, digital nomads are those who are able to execute their jobs remotely from any location with access to the internet. An increasing number of people in the last several years have made the decision to adopt a location-independent, technologically-enabled way of living. As a result of this shift, a number of countries have revised their legal frameworks to accommodate the needs of digital nomads by creating special visa programs to entice remote workers. Recently, the government of the Republic of Cyprus established a visa scheme tailored to attract and retain foreign nationals who want to work for foreign firms from Cyprus yet enjoy all the advantages of island life. By recruiting skilled individuals and businesses, the initiative hopes to aid in the change of the business environment and the growth of the country's economy.
HOW WE CAN ASSIST
Apply for the Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa
The definition of a “digital nomad visa”
It’s a new kind of visa for persons who want to work for foreign firms from Cyprus thanks to the increasing popularity of “remote working” rules in the business sector.
Who is qualified to submit a digital nomad visa application?
- Citizens of non-European Economic Area (EEA) or European Union (EU) countries who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for a digital nomad visa:
- Use ICT to perform tasks away from the office
- Are hired by a firm based outside of the Republic of Cyprus and work remotely for that company or are self-employed with clients outside of the Republic of Cyprus.
- May demonstrate that they have at least €3,500 in monthly income, after deducting contributions and taxes, to support their living in Cyprus.
Why do people want a digital nomad visa, and what do they get out of it?
- Those who are granted a Digital Nomad visa are rewarded with:
- The privilege of remaining in the nation for up to a year, extendable by another two.
- As long as the individual's permission is valid, their immediate family members can join them in Cyprus for the same duration. However, in Cyprus, the family members may not perform dependent labor or participate in any form of economic activity.
- They will be deemed tax residents of Cyprus and qualify for certain tax incentives if they spend more than 183 days in the country in a single calendar year. If the applicants spend more than 60 days in Cyprus but less than 183 days in any other country, they may still qualify as a tax resident of Cyprus if they satisfy certain requirements.
